Medieval Times Dallas, Texas

I'm behind on posting, so sorry but I have to tell you guys about an amazing outing I had with my children recently at Medieval Times. About 10 years ago I had gone and it was so much fun so when I was provided tickets for 5 with the upgrade package, I knew who I would take for sure, the biggest critics I know, my children. Nicholas wasn't with us, which of course made me super sad but the show must go on.

Upon arrival my children were standing outside saying how cool it was to be staring at a castle and I was looking at the traffic backed up on the highway. That was probably one of my biggest issues with the location and the week night show times, can you say rush hour traffic in downtown Dallas?

We were greeted and escorted in where we received the flags for our knight, the black and white knight in this case. Afterward we were escorted to an area, crowns on our heads, where they took our picture and then send to pick a background for our dress up picture. This part was super fun but OMG the pics were so expensive but in line with other amusement attractions price wise.

Upon receiving our tickets, we were instructed to be there an hour before the show was to begin. I understand that they want to sell souviners and alcohol but for us, this was an opportunity to take pictures with the neat things they have inside, including in the bathroom.

The fun began when we entered into the arena. Our seats were front row, center seats. To say the food is good is an understatement and even my very hungry, bottomless stomached teenage boys go their fill of food. The show itself was very neat, I won't give too much away but at the end of the day, our knight was not the winner. My kids and I had a blast and I can't wait until we can all go as a family, maybe not with the upgraded seating but we will have a good time none the less.

US Toy ~Awesome Novelty Hats

I love hats. In fact, I collect vintage hats and have a larger baseball cap collection than my husband does. If you look at many of the pictures that others take of me in casual settings, you will find me in a baseball cap. I also love funny hats, something I picked up from my God family. US Toy has some awesome novelty hats. No matter what the season, US Toy is sure to have novelty hats to meet your every need.

From hats that look like they belong to the Cat In The Hat, pirate hats and jester hats, these novelty hats are just the beginning. Some of my favorite novelty hats at US Toy include: the hot dog hat, happy birthday hat and with Christmas right around the corner, the Santa hat.

Be sure to head over to US Toy and check out all their novelty hats.

Homemade Facials

As I continue to get older my skin has become a priority to me. Growing up with a tomboy mother, no one ever talked to me about the importance of my skin or how to take care of it so it's been a trial and error situation for me. I love facials but going to the salon and getting them done can  be costly so I try very hard to do them at home if possible and I can't wait to try this DIY facila: Cocoa Coffee!!!

½ cup creme fraiche (substitute with sour cream, plain yogurt or buttermilk in a pinch)
5 Tbsp coffee beans (ground or instant coffee will work too)
4 Tbsp fresh cocoa butter (available at most health food stores)
½ tsp cool water

Grind coffee beans to a fine texture.  Mix cocoa butter with coffee grinds until smooth.

In a separate bowl combine cool water and cream.  Wisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir together until smooth and silky.

Prep your skin by washing it with a gentle face wash.  Paint or apply with gentle fingers onto your facial skin and leave to set for 25-30 mins.  Rinse with lukewarm water.  That's it!

Burt's Bees For Senitive Skin...I'm In

I have super sensitive skin as does my oldest son and one of my middle baby suffers from extremely dry skin so when BZZagent asked me to do a review on Burt's Bees new Sensitive Skin Line, I was all in. I will be honest, after trying a million and one things, I was skeptical.

The first thing that I read was that it contained no soap. Now how is something with no soap suppose to work? I also noticed right from the start that it really doesn't have a smell, which is important when your skin screams at you all the time. Within one week of using Burt's Bees Face Wash I will say I was super impressed, no redness, no break outs, no excess oil, Jesus I think you answered my prayers.

The same results happened for my son but getting him to use the daily moisturizer was a different story, remember we are talking about a boy in high school lol. For me the moisturizer worked great. It is not heavy or greasy or oily.

Overall I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Rug Obsession

I'll admit I have a rug obsession. The biggest challenge is finding rugs that are both affordable and don't look like the rugs in my grandmother's house. The Rugs Warehouse has some of the most awesome wool rugs.

From classic to modern, there is a wool rug for everyone. I love the Botanical collection, the Borders Collection and the Impression collection. Of course, you can search many other kinds of rugs at The Rugs Warehouse, however, my favorite collections are the wool rugs.

As with many companies, you can purchase your wool rug using any major credit card and while you're there, be sure to search the extra large rugs and the oval rugs as well. There is no way you will find yourself disappointed.

I am creating my wish list, another option for those like me who have a challenging time choosing just one or making a decision on the right one. I love the wish list feature since it also allows me easy access to the rugs I like any time I log on.

Head on over to The Rugs Warehouse and check them out.

Book Review: Healing With Words

We recently received a copy of Healing With Words: A Writer's Cancer Journey"  by Dianna M Raab. Let me just say I had a very hard time putting this book down.

The writing prompts are geared more toward people who have or have had cancer but if you think about the questions, they could pertain to anyone. Maybe you have a loved one or friend who has had cancer or had a cancer scare and you can put yourself in their position and imagine how you might feel.

I love that the author goes into step by step of her journey through breast cancer and the poems in the book, boy, they are a heart grabber. The book is important because her breast cancer was not detected by a physical exam but only through mammogram.

I highly recommend this book for everyone.

Book Review: Dirty Little Bomb Shell

I recently received an amazing book Dirty Bomb Shell From Thyroid Cancer To Fabulous by Lorna J. Burnelle. The book is about her venture with thyroid cancer and how it changed her life forever.

I love the honesty of all the highs and for sure all the lows she encountered. Lorna is an amazing fighter, especially as a singer who realizes that the C word could change her livelihood forever.

This book is amazing for anyone to read but especially someone suffering from thyroid cancer or thyroid issues.
