Journaling Your Way Through May- May 3rd

May 3rd ~ Today I Want To Remember:

Today I want to remember my Nanny. As Spring is quickly fading into Summer, it reminds me of all the time my brother, cousin Amy and I spent at my Nanny's house. We would wake up in the morning to Nanny making us breakfast of some time of fried meat, fried eggs (except for me, I got scrammbled), homemade biscuits and homemade jelly. She would always buy us Nestle Quik for our milk, most of the tiem chocolate.

During the day she would take us to Bill's Dollar Store in Glen Rose, TX and buy us various things to do at her house. We would play outside in my playhouse or no the monkey swings until it was starting to get dark. She would call us inside, make sure we washed our hands and fed us dinner: pinto beans, soft fried potatoes (for my Papaw) and cornbread.

After dinner or what was referred to as "supper" we would head outside to catch fireflies or lightening bugs (depending on what part of the country you are from). Nanny would give us Mason jars to put them in. When we came in for the evening, we would all fight to sit in front of the water cooler (that one you'll have to look up ) as we took turns taking a bath, not a shower because there wasn't one of those.

We would all 3 climb into the same feather bed and Nanny would come to the window with her booger man mask and scare the beejeebers out of us. This is what I want to remember today, how much she loved us and how much fun she made sure we always had.
