Wordless Wednesday....Almost

Most Sundays people are in church but since we have a very unconventional, crazy scheduled family, Sundays are homework day and relax day. I am the one taking the picture here. They all want to be with Mom at the table when she is studying, even Daddy. What you can't see are that the missing 2 are in the other room playing XBox since they hate homework.

Pin It Tuesday Fire Department Bake Sale Additon

So this weekend we are doing a bake sale....If you are near Rice, TX come on by the fire station and buy some yummy homemade goodies and support your local department.

For over a month I have been collecting ideas via Pinterest and now comes the tough part, narrowing it all down. I am also donating some baked yummies to a fundraiser for one of the boy's moms in my school. His mom found out she has breast cancer. Here are some of the yummy ideas I am almost sure I am going to be making.

Monday Mingle ~ March 26th

1. Thinking of elementary school – how would your classmates describe you?

I don't know. Since this posts on my Facebook and many of them are my friends there, I hope some of them may give me an idea about what they thought of me. If we were talking about middle school or high school I could answer this question more easily

2. What were your nicknames growing up?

Joni Bologna (Baloni), Punkin (thanks dad), Nae Nae (because my sister couldn't say my name)

3. If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?

I would spy on all of my kids to see how they really act when I'm not around.

Wordless Wednesday.... Almost

My bios are part Hispanic and baby girl is the only one who got those genes because the boys look as pastey as their mama. That being said, baby girl has grown aware and hates some of the extra little hairs she has...teenage girls can be so mean, so mama took her to get waxed for the first time.

Wordless Wednesday....Almost

This is the picture my daughter text me the other night when I was in class. Of course, I wasn't able to check it until 9:30 at night when I was leaving but I thought to myself it was a cute picture. For those of you who don't know I am a volunteer firefighter.

I saw she wrote something under the picture and I was in tears when I read it.

"I love u mommy. ur the bestest always cause what you do. hope you will remember I love u this much.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Kisses. hee hee. I could do more dots but my hand hurts already."

Pin It Tuesday Baby Shower Addition

So by now many of you know my sister in law and her partner are having twin boys. It has been close to 3 years for our family to have a baby around and this time we get double baby. I am so super excited to meet these little men. I won't say their names because it's changed about 4 times already but whatever their names it will start with "A" like their mothers.

I am so looking forward to doing a baby shower and while I think baby girls have more options, I have found some awesome things that I want to try and do for their shower. To see more ideas check out my Pinterest board

These are the colors they are doing the nursery in.

Today was the first day of Spring Break 2012 and we didn't have a bunch of plans today. The kids did get to divide into teams of 2, Nick was with me (luck of the draw), Joel and Jonathan were together and Bryan and Jill are together. The older boys aren't doing such a great job of working together at all but Bryan and Jill are doing a great job.

Other than that, I went on one fire call and am preparing for tomorrow. Give you an update then.

Monday Mingle with 80MPH Mom

1. If you are having a horrible day, who do you vent to?

I always vent to my husband, even when it's about him. Since moving down to our little town, I haven't really made too many friends. Right now I just don't have time for friends between school, work, kids, fire department, ladies auxiliary, studying, etc. I love my husband very much thought and I appreciate him letting me vent. I do need to plan a girl's night out with my friends in DFW though.

2. List your top 3 relationship tips for young couples.

~ Be a good listener. This is more important than being a good talker.
~Talk about things. Never assume that the other person knows what you are thinking or feeling. This is the reason I didn't marry my now husband first. We dated in high school while I was a junior and he was a senior. He told me he was going to the Army and I was so worried he would leave me behind in high school, meet someone better than me and I would get hurt so instead of talking to him about this, I broke up with him and instead of asking me why, he just harbored ill feelings and hurt for a long time. Thank God we know how to talk now.
~Don't put too many people in your business. I made this mistake with many relationships by going to ED when I was having an argument and then when I worked it out with whoever it was, ED still hated them for what I told her when I was angry.

3. Other than you immediate family, who are/were your favorite relatives?

By far my most fave relative is my Nanny and next would be my Papaw. My nanny is an awesome lady, mainly because I am very much like her. Right now she is in hospice and while some people think I should go see her more often, they don't realize how hard it is for me to see her that way. Leaving becomes impossible and breaks my heart since she doesn't want me to ever leave her side.

My Papaw was the smartest, strongest man I have ever known in my entire life even though he couldn't read and could barely write. He worked until he had a stroke and ended up really upset since he was not able to do things for himself. He was a quiet guy but would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I miss sitting on his knee, listening to his stories about when my dad was a kid or when he was a kid. I also miss soft fried potatoes, pinto beans and his corn bread. This was the meal we were eating if we stayed the night with him and my Nanny had to work that night.

I Wish I Would Have Know This At 23

I am 33 and will be 34 this year. Oh how I wish that I knew 10 years ago what I know today. Currently I work a 40 hour a week job as a cafeteria manager for the local school district where we live. I am thankful for my job but going there every day reminds me of why I also go to college 4 nights a week plus 2 online classes. The school schedule is great since it goes right in line with the kid's schedules but summer is coming up and I have some major decisions to make in regards to going back to work at the school district and what am I going to do through the summer.

So today we made some decisions about what we are going to do. When I get the 2nd installment of my student loan money, I am going to enroll in a CNA program from June to July. This is something that when it's mine, it's mine. It opens up some doors in terms of employment and it will help when I finish Paramedic school.

I am secretly hoping I can find a position this summer that will not only bring in an income but also allow me to not have to go back to the school district. How I wish I would have thought about career path and steps to get where I was going when I was 23 how different life at 33 would be.
